Call us perverts (it would be an accurate description) but we got a little bit too excited at the prospect of HBO's newest drama, Big Love. The idea of a TV show about a man with three wives, one of which is played by the woman with the porno name of dreams, Jeanne Tripplehorn, has had us wet with anticipation for days.
Add to that a healthy dose of religious controversy, and its surprising we have even made it out of our bedrooms to write this post. Of course, we suspect that the program wont be quite as exciting as we are anticipating, although we do hold out hope for a 4-way orgy at some point in the series. In case you are unfamiliar with the show (which many people on our side of the Atlantic might be), it revolves around character Bill Henrickson, played by Bill Paxton, who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, and has three wives. Played by Miss Tripplehorn, Ginnifer Goodwin, and lastly (and most manly) Chloe Sevigny.
(He obviously got less picky around wife number three.). Now, before you jump to any radical, outrageous, and entirely unfounded conclusions about this show being about Mormons, HBO has been at pains to tell everyone that it isn't. Mormonism officially banned polygamy about a hundred years ago (despite it being one of Joseph Smith's founding principles -who doesn't love a religion that lets you bone your own cousin?), and as such are slightly peeved that the show quite clearly is about the Church of the Latter Day Saints. We are gonna withold judgement on the show until we get a chance to actually watch it (which could be a while, we do live in old blighty), but we would appreciate it if you, are loyal readers, could leave some comments and let us know what you think of it!
